Vacation with Nani Maa (Smart GPS & Ultrasonic Travel Meter)
Source:
Map Nani Maa's holiday journey on a mini Indian map board equipped with HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensors. Move a toy bus along route paths to measure real distances in centimeters and scale them to kilometers (1 cm = 10 km).

Props & Materials Required
- •Mini Indian map board with town markers (Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Mumbai)
- •Toy bus with ultrasonic sensor reflector target
- •HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor
- •ESP32 controller board with 16x2 LCD display
- •DFPlayer Mini MP3 module + 3W speaker
Step-by-Step Instructions
Select Travel Route
Plan Nani Maa's trip: 'Travel from Delhi to Jaipur, then Jaipur to Agra'.
Drive Toy Bus along Map Route
Move toy bus along the map track. The ultrasonic sensor measures the bus position.
Read Distance & Map Scale
Ultrasonic sensor reads 26 cm on map. Controller multiplies by scale (x10). LCD displays: 'Map Distance: 26 cm = Real Distance: 260 Kilometers!'
Travel Time Calculator
Press 'Time' button. Speaker calculates: 'At 50 km/h speed, Nani Maa's bus ride will take 5 hours! Pack snacks!'
Why It Works & Notes
Distance concepts (Meters vs. Kilometers) become real when planning travel routes. Ultrasonic sensors measuring physical distance on a map board and converting it using scale factors (1 cm = 10 km) connects measurement with map reading.
