Source:

Using NFC-tagged stamp shapes and poster paint, children create repeating patterns. The smart reader checks the sequence and announces if the pattern is correct.

Props & Materials Required

  • Cut vegetables (ladyfinger cross-sections, potato star/square stamps)
  • Washable poster paints
  • Long paper strips
  • Pattern cards

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Explore Simple Patterns

Demonstrate an AB pattern: Star (Red), Square (Blue), Star (Red), Square (Blue).

2

Stamp and Scan

After stamping each shape, tap the matching NFC-tagged shape card on the reader pad in sequence.

3

Pattern Check

After 6 stamps, the speaker evaluates: 'Star, Square, Star, Square, Star, Square — Perfect AB pattern! Well done!' or 'Oops! The pattern broke at position 4. Try again!'

4

Create Rangoli Symmetry

Challenge: Create an AABB pattern for a symmetrical festival Rangoli border.

Why It Works & Notes

Pattern recognition is central to mathematical thinking and algebraic reasoning. A smart pattern checker validates the child's sequence and plays a celebration or hints at corrections.
