A purely mechanical, tactile math exercise. The 'chef' receives order cards requiring specific fractional portions (e.g., '1/2 cheese and 1/4 pepperoni'). The student must assemble the physical laser-cut magnetic pizza slices on a board to make a whole pizza.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Meet the Slices
Spread out all the pizza pieces. Show: this is a whole pizza (1 piece). These two pieces make a whole (halves = 1/2 each). These three pieces make a whole (thirds = 1/3 each). These four make a whole (quarters = 1/4 each).
Take an Order
Draw an order card: 'Customer wants 1/2 cheese and 1/2 pepperoni.' The child must find and place the correct slices on the magnetic board to complete the order.
Harder Orders
Draw a trickier order: '1/4 mushroom, 1/4 olive, and 1/2 cheese.' The child must figure out which combination of slices adds up to a whole pizza.
Impossible Orders
Sneak in a trick order: '1/2 cheese and 1/3 pepperoni.' The child discovers it doesn't make a complete pizza — there's a gap! This teaches that fractions must add to 1 to make a whole.
Create Your Own Menu
The child writes their own order cards for a friend or parent to solve. Creating fraction problems is even harder than solving them — fantastic for deep understanding!
Why It Works & Notes
Fractions are one of the most feared topics in elementary math because they are taught abstractly. This project makes fractions physical — a child who has held 1/4 of a pizza in their hand will never forget what a quarter means.
