Step-by-Step Instructions
Load Muddy Mixture into Filter
Pour muddy water into the 3-layer Sand/Charcoal filtration column.
Measure Filtered Water Turbidity
Turbidity sensor reads water clarity improving from 850 NTU (MURKY) → 15 NTU (CLEAR).
Load Test Tube into Centrifuge
Place chalk water sample tube into the DC motor centrifuge rotor.
Run 2000 RPM Centrifuge Spin
Spin centrifuge at 2000 RPM for 15 seconds. High G-force forces chalk powder to form a solid pellet at the bottom! LCD displays 'CENTRIFUGAL SEPARATION COMPLETE!'
Why It Works & Notes
Separating mixtures relies on physical differences (particle size, density, centrifugal force). Using optical turbidity sensors to monitor water clarity before and after filtration/centrifugation makes chemical separation measurable.
