Props & Materials Required

  • Green cardboard tree cutout
  • 9 paper mango cutouts numbered 1 through 9
  • Wooden clothespins or paper clips
  • Dice

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Pick a Mango

Select a paper mango from the tree (e.g. numeral '5').

2

Tap on the Smart Reader

Tap the NFC-tagged mango on the reader pad. The speaker says 'Five!' and exactly 5 LEDs light up on the strip, one by one, with a counting beep.

3

Dice Match Game

Roll a dot dice, count the dots, then find and tap the matching mango. If correct, the speaker plays a celebration chime.

4

Number Line Ordering

Arrange all 9 mangoes in order from smallest (1) to largest (9) along a string line.

Why It Works & Notes

Counting requires understanding 1-to-1 correspondence (one number word per object). NFC-triggered audio and LED counting reinforces quantity representation alongside written numerals through multisensory feedback.
