Anita and the Honeybees (Smart Beehive IoT Temp & Weight Monitor)
Source: Stemoto Original
Build a model beehive box equipped with an internal temperature/humidity sensor and load cell scale. Track honey accumulation weight and beehive temperature, alerting when honey is ready for harvest.
Categorisation
Props & Materials Required
- •Beehive frame model with honeycomb trays & toy bees
- •DHT22 beehive temperature & humidity sensor
- •5kg HX711 load cell scale (beehive weight)
- •ESP32 controller board
- •0.96-inch OLED display screen
- •DFPlayer Mini MP3 module + 3W speaker
Step-by-Step Instructions
Inspect Beehive Model
Examine Queen Bee, Worker bees, and honeycomb frames inside hive box.
Monitor Hive Temperature
DHT22 reads 34°C inside. Speaker: 'Bees maintain 34°C by fanning their wings to protect larvae!'
Add Honeycombs to Scale
Add full honeycombs. Load cell measures weight increase from 1.2 kg to 4.5 kg.
Honey Harvest Notification
When hive weight exceeds 4 kg, OLED displays 'HONEY READY FOR HARVEST! Yield: 3.3 kg Honey = ₹1,320 Income!'
Why It Works & Notes
Anita & the Honeybees introduces apiculture (beekeeping) and entrepreneurship. Using load cells to track honeycomb weight growth (honey yield) and temperature sensors to monitor queen bee health introduces modern IoT agriculture.
