Step-by-Step Instructions

Turn ON Air Sampling Fan

Air fan draws ambient room air past the optical dust sensor.

Optical Sensor Counts Dust Particles

IR LED inside dust sensor detects light scattered by dust particles.

Read Air Pressure & AQI Score

BMP280 reads 'Air Pressure: 1013 hPa'. Dust sensor reads 'PM2.5: 28 µg/m³ (AQI: GOOD)'.

Simulate Smoke Pollution Test

Blow incense smoke near sensor. PM2.5 spikes to 320 µg/m³! Red LED flashes + Speaker warns: 'POOR AIR QUALITY! High particulate smoke detected! Wear N95 mask!'

Why It Works & Notes

Air is a mixture of gases (Nitrogen, Oxygen) plus floating dust/smoke particles that cause pollution. Using optical dust sensors to count PM2.5 particles and barometers to measure air pressure turns air science into environmental monitoring.
